In private, the itinerary stops being a constraint. You leave at the hour that suits you, you stay longer where you are enjoying yourself, you skip what does not interest you. The driver-guide is yours for the day, the water is in the van, and with three or four of you the price per head often drops below a shared seat. These are the four formats we run most.
Douro Valley Private Tour: from €420 per group
Nine hours in the Douro, built around what you actually want from it. Family-run quintas rather than the big houses, or the other way round. Port and table wine tastings, lunch facing the vines, a stop in Pinhão, viewpoints for the photographs. If you would rather walk an hour through the terraces than take in a third cellar, tell the guide on the morning.

Porto City Private Tour: from €330 per group
A whole day for the city, without rushing. Ribeira, Livraria Lello, São Bento, the viewpoints, and the rest according to what you feel like: markets, quieter neighbourhoods, free time in the middle. The guide books lunch if you want it and suggests the add-ons that are worth it, whether that is the six-bridges cruise or the Gaia cellars.

Aveiro & Coimbra Private Tour: from €420 per group
Both towns, at your own pace. In Coimbra, the university quarter and the Joanina Library, which is worth booking a slot for in advance. In Aveiro, the canals, the Art Nouveau facades, the ovos moles and the moliceiro cruise if you want it. You can also spend three quarters of the day in just one of the two. It is your van.

Porto Walking Private Tour: €120 for two people
Three hours in the centre with a guide who is yours alone, and nothing but your legs. The route takes shape as you talk: the listed lanes, Livraria Lello, São Bento, the viewpoints, a coffee stop, a cellar if you want one. This is what we suggest for your first morning, to get the city straight before anything else.
Practical: 3 hours, departing at 8am, 8.30am, 9am, 9.30am, then 1pm, 1.30pm, 2pm and 2.30pm. Price: €120 for two people, €15 per additional participant. Included: private local guide, pickup in the historic centre, recommendations for the rest of your stay. Not included: food and drink, admissions, cellar visit.
Frequently asked questions about our private tours
Is the rate really for the whole group?
Yes, for a given vehicle. The car for up to 4 people is €330 or €420 depending on the day, whether there are two of you or four. Above 4, the van and the minibus are chosen at booking and change the flat rate. The walking tour works differently: €120 for two people, then €15 per additional participant.
How many people can come?
Up to 19 on the vehicle days, choosing the car (4 people), the van (8) or the minibus (19). Beyond that, write to us and we will put on a second vehicle.
Can the route change during the day?
That is the whole point. If you want an extra hour at a quinta, a longer lunch instead of a visit, or an earlier finish, the guide adapts as long as the road allows.
Is lunch included?
No, on none of the four. The guide books the table if you want, and you settle up there. That leaves you the choice between a quinta with a view and a twelve-euro tasca.
At what group size does private start to make sense?
From three people on the Douro: €420 between three works out at €140 each against €152 shared, with the vehicle to yourselves. For two, the shared tour is still cheaper.
What language is the tour in?
English or French, tell us when you book. For Spanish, Italian or German, give us notice and we will check guide availability for your dates.
What is the cancellation policy?
Free cancellation up to 48 hours before departure. After that the tour is payable. If a flight is cancelled or you fall ill with a doctor’s note, we move the date at no cost.
Can I choose my departure time?
Yes, within the slots offered. The vehicle days leave at 7.30am, 8am, 8.30am, 9am or 9.30am. The walking tour leaves at 8am, 8.30am, 9am, 9.30am, 1pm, 1.30pm, 2pm or 2.30pm.
